of artworks inspired by the holiday season. Mixed
media paintings by Cha Guojun, ink on rice paper works
by Qin Feng, etchings Chen Hai Yan and ink works by Yang
Jie Chang will be featured.
Meditation Works of Li Yibing The "Meditation" series, which will be shown
at Art Beatus Gallery from December 5 to 22, 2007,
unveils Li's persistent efforts in posing his buddies at
their happiest moment, eyes closed, contemplating and
always desiring for something pleasurable that is
forth-coming.
Mother Earth Photographs of Feng Xue Min Feng, who now works and lives in Tokyo, will
show viewers glimpses of his motherland. In focus are
places such as Jingdezhen (home of China’s porcelain
wares), Shaoxing (noted for its wine, creeks and
waterways), Changbai Mountains (ginseng country and snow
bound mountains), Yunnan (terraced paddy fields on hill
slopes and Lijiang), Guizhou (lively colours of China’s
minorities) and Tibet (Mount Everest and the mysterious
landscape).
Mystic World Works of Cha Guojun Signs and symbols on oracle bones and
ancient Chinese bronze vessels, calligraphic characters
on signature seals and stones, abstract displays of ink
and colour splashes in Chinese paintings…. all these
have been turned into components and integral parts in
the paintings of Cha Guojun.
Falling ~ Tribute to Autumn Works by Katie Cheung, Rene Yung, and Hye-Kyung Kim Works in this entirely female-artist exhibit
will include paintings by Katie Cheung from Vancouver,
BC, prints by Rene Yung of San Francisco and mixed media
works by Hye-Kyung Kim from Victoria, BC. Pieces
that reminded us of the evocative shades, moods and
scents of autumn were specifically chosen as a way to
welcome the change in season.
To Wrecks with Love Works of Mui Chong-ki As an artist, Mui Chong-ki finds beauties
everywhere, even in the graveyard for depilated
vehicles. For years, he has sketched and painted dozen
of works in the form of drawing, watercolour and mixed
media painting of these forgotten friends of mankind
expiring in their final destination.
No Big Deal Works of Wang Nengtao With his colourful limited edition prints,
Wang Nengtao hopes to incarcerate the remaining positive
attitudes still held by people in China today. Some of
the attitudes that he wishes to maintain are fast
vanishing and some have already been sarcastically
twisted and remarked.
Oil paintings of Lo Shyh-charng In most of his paintings, Lo Shyh-charng has
successfully imbedded an intrinsic energy that aims to
induce the viewers to explore beyond the apparent
imageries on the canvases.
May Contain Small Parts Plastic Works by Sang Won Sung The exhibition features works by artist,
Sang Won Sung who uses common plastic objects, most
particularly parts from plastic dolls, and then
playfully recombines and restructures the pieces into
humorous and comical animals, superheroes, insects, and
other easily recognized iconic figures.
French Landscape – Connection and Collection Works and installations of Sara Tse Sara Tse continues her artistic journey down
the memory lane, preserving fragments of reminiscences
and experiences with her works. In French Landscape -
Connection and Collection, Tse gives an account of her
conceptual interpretations of France.
Yun-Dong Maoist Humours - Paintings of Wang Xunliang Wang, a self-taught Hong Kong artist who
became physically handicapped due to an illness early in
his life, has been persistent in his artistic pursuit.
Cracked Up Eggs-traordinary Works By Junichiro Iwase Junichiro brings two series of
giggle-inducing work to this exhibition; his dark yet
humorous ‘Egg’ series from recent past and a
delightfully fun new series of work that incorporates
eggshells as texture for his paintings.
