History and mandate Art Beatus Gallery was founded in Hong Kong in 1992.With an addition of a second gallery in Vancouver, Canada, in 1996, Art Beatus, the first gallery of its kind operating simultaneously on both sides of the Pacific. Art Beatus represents and promotes International modern and contemporary art with a unique focus on contemporary Chinese art. Traditional Chinese art has a profound history that is widely recognized throughout the world; the last one hundred years saw many significant developments in contemporary Chinese art which are no less significant. Unfortunately, few galleries possess the level of understanding to effectively represent contemporary Chinese art. In an era of cultural hybridity, when many reputable art institutions are becoming more awareness of contemporary art outside of the mainstream. Contemporary Chinese art has now achieved international recognition. For instance, The Solomon K. Guggenheim Museum and British Museum are currently planning major Chinese art exhibitions that include modern and contemporary art for the first time. Sotherby's has also scheduled auctioning of contemporary Chinese art in the near future. We feel that this is the perfect timing for Art Beatus to serve and fulfill this interest in contemporary Chinese art, and to become the first dealer suitably positioned to properly promote and represent museum-quality Chinese art. Art Beatus is continually seeking out new talents to add to its illustrious list of contemporary Chinese artists. It is our goal to pursue a wider recognition of contemporary Chinese art throughout the world; and to promote and assist in the establishment of noteworthy art collections. Collaborating with partners and associates in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, Art Beatus also organized special shows and exhibitions for a number of internationally acclaimed artists of non-Chinese origins. Notwithstanding our focus on contemporary Chinese art, we believe that our special exhibitions on artists of the highest calibre will add to the artistic diversity and interests of our clients and, more importantly, they will provide a frame of reference for appreciating, as well as evaluating, Chinese art within an international context. Art Beatus enjoys exceptional reputation amongst discerning collectors from all over the world. Art collectors from prestigious circles in Asia and North America form the core of our clientele. To achieve our aim of raising the level of art awareness of the public, Art Beatus offer private art education sessions for collectors and art lovers. These programmes are intended to stimulate and encourage general interest in art and art collecting.
