What Toys?
Works by Li Yibing October 8 - 29, 2015 |
|
Artist will be in
attendance at the opening on October 8th (Thursday),
2015, 6 - 8pm
Continuing his tongue-in-cheek
depictions of the nouveaux riches, Li Yibing’s
latest series of works explore further into
contemporaneous happenings around us as well as the
mental conditions between players and their seeming
toys.
Li uses the exhibits to raise one common question: What Toys? He, on the one hand, has players handling things that may or may not be toys, while on the other hand he has portraits of cuddly stuffed animals all bearing a strange dubious look as if they have questions for the viewers concerning their identity and existence. Li Yibing lives and works in Song Zhuang, the artists’ enclave in the suburban Beijing. What Toys? exhibition will open at Art Beatus Gallery on Wednesday, October 8, 2015 and will continue until October 29, 2015.
