Revisit

Paintings by  Frank Burbach

March 5 - 26, 2015

Artist will be in attendance at the opening on March 5th (Thursday), 2015, 6 - 8pm

Frank Burbach was the General Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany and a dedicated painter when he left Hong Kong in 2010. Burbach is revisiting Hong Kong in March, a full time artist now, and he is preparing to show us works that he has painted over the past two years from his studio in Berlin.

Any reflections working as an artist in Hong Kong and in Berlin?
“Hong Kong never has left me.  Once you experience the vitality of this city, of its people, you will never forget it. Berlin, too, is a vibrant city, always in the making, never finished. My painting has been vitalized by Berlin, giving it a new urgency,” Frank said.

How has this changed your artistic style?
“I stay true to my style: abstract forms and strong colours. As before, I use brushes but I also use dripping. Most of my paintings originate in a spontaneous way, in kind of controlled explosion, but some will follow underlying drawings with planned lines and forms.”

As an artist, what do you hope to achieve?
“The overall idea of my painting is to put energy into a limited surface and give the viewer a chance to experience this energy in his or her own way. Painting is an on-going process, a search that can never reach a perfect fulfillment for the painter. There is always a new way to explore, a new path to follow.”

Revisit exhibition will open at Art Beatus Gallery on March 5, 2015 and will continue until March 26, 2015.
