will be in attendance at the opening on
August 8th (Thursday), 2013, 6 - 8pm
To artist Wong Fung-chi, a heap of shattered tempered glass does not signal an end to its usefulness. With her these granular lumps will have a second life as they become the basic material for her glamorous recreations. Wong says that by putting these graular pieces back into forms she symbolically reconstructs life thus reflecting on the different traits of human nature that are equally fragile and often exist to be shattered. The fragile aspects of human nature that she has highlighted are material need and greed, dream and vision, capriciousness, persistence and perseverance, pretense and hypocrisy, sincerity and truthfulness, repulsiveness and hatred as well as beauty. Wong graduated from the Fine Art Department of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology last year and was a recipient of the Fresh Trend 2012 Outstanding New Artist Award. Before this solo exhibition at Art Beatus Gallery, she has participated in various group shows and art fairs. Fragile starts from August 8th until August 28th, 2013.
