Works of Qin Chong September 2 to 29, 2005 |
|
Opening Ceremony - September 2,
2005,
6pm - 8pm:
Artist will attend the opening ceremony Black is the colour of Qin Chong. Occasionally, he may use red to accent or to arrest attention. The black in his works can be black oil paint, soot or carbon residue from direct or indirect burning. In fact, Qin is charting an untrotted path in the way how he approaches his works. When watching Qinユs works, there is an overwhelming sense of tranquillity. Through various media, Qin has succeeded in capturing stillness, the minimal state of existence, the graphic yet elusive drift of black smoke as well as the artistic finale of a blazing torch. Qin was born in Xinjiang, China in 1968 and graduated from the Beijing Academy from Arts and Crafts in 1990. He now lives and works as a free-lance artist between Berlin and Beijing. This exhibition in Art Beatus Gallery is the final leg of a three-part exhibition that started in April in Shanghai Doland Museum of Modern Art and in GdK Galerie der Kuenste in Berlin in June. The Hong Kong exhibition will run until September 29.
