Kwong Yeu Ting was born in Macau
in 1922. He graduated with an M. A. in Landscape Design
from Kansas State University in the United States in
1949. Kwong went to Europe in 1956 to pursue an interest
in painting. After a successful first exhibition abroad
in London in 1957, Kwong Yeu Ting returned to Hong Kong,
where he became active in the fledgling modern art
movement. Later, Kwong Yeu Ting was considered a senior
art educator in Hong Kong. His prints and paintings have
been collected an exhibited extensively in Europe, Asia
and the United States.
Artist's Statement "To me the joy is in painting a picture. I'm not concerned with what happens afterwards. It's like when you travel - it's the journey that will interest you not the destination." “I would like someone who looks at my paintings to have the same feeling I had when I painted them.” "I want to give them something beautiful, something worthwhile - like going to a scenic spot and gaining pleasure from what you see around you." - Kwong Yeu Ting |
